What captivates me so about Jesus is that while on earth He healed people . . . it seemed almost as if He could not help himself. One person after another, a blind man, a woman hemorrhaging, a dead son, the lame, the deaf, the one with leprosy, even a centurion's servant who lay some distance away. He could. So He did. What love!
I know that Jesus heals today.
A Harvard graduate, Frances MacNutt spent a life time reverently and sincerely pursuing the healing ministry of Jesus Christ within Scripture. With straightforward simplicity, he put into practice what he found his Master doing. With the faith of a child and the keen observation of a physician, MacNutt has shared that ministry with others.
When instant healing did not occur, MacNutt observed the efficacy of soaking prayer.
In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength.
What is soaking prayer? Simply this - spending time with the Lord in stillness and quiet.
Beloved, I pray that you may soak today - in a childlike act of faith that beneath you are the everlasting arms.
Do I need to tell you how purposeful you will have to be? How diligent to remove all distractions - including guilt? To sit quietly and reverently. Relaxing completely in trust and awe like a child. Closing your eye to all that clamors urgently. Becoming alive to the present and the delicate senses of the now - dissolving into the immediate, forsaking for a moment the trouble of the past and the worry of the future. And soaking in His presence that has, after all, always been with you as has been the Truth of His Word.
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
~ Zephaniah 3:17My Sisters in the world, my prayer is that you will know the God Who loves you and Who sent His Son Jesus to set you free.
